Vocation team members attend the National Catholic Youth Conference in Indianapolis
Vocation team members Fr. Paul Gins, O.S.M., and Mr. Eddie Murphy, campus minister at Servite High School in Anaheim, CA, recently attended the National Catholic Youth Conference in Indianapolis. This biennial conference is a three day experience of prayer, fellowship, and empowerment for Catholic teenagers of high school age. Fr. Gins and Mr. Murphy had a booth in the vocation section of the exhibit hall with various Servite related material and a video put together by Pasquale Talarico, another campus minister at Servite High School. "The presence of the Servite friars with an information booth was a very positive experience," says Fr. Gins. It was estimated that over 20,000 young adults and program coordinators attend this event. Obviously, not all stopped by to speak to Fr. Paul and Mr. Murphy, but those who did were curious about the community, its history, and how the Servites live religious life in the 21st century. According to Fr. Paul, "Our presence these few days gave us the opportunity to share ‘Servite’ with a new nationwide audience."
